In order to remove NO x  produced by corona discharge in indoor air cleaning, this work experimentally studies NO 2  production behavior under different polarity, discharge power and relative humidity (RH). The study was carried out in a closed chamber of 0.2 m 3 . The results show that NO 2  production in negative corona discharge is far less than that in positive corona discharge, and humidity show a suppressing effect on NO 2  production. Using a manganese oxides catalyst can significantly reduce NO 2  concentration. Indoor application tests are carried out in a closed room of 90 m 3 , and results show that NO 2  is reduced from 0.2~0.3 ppm to a level that cannot be detected after 1.5 h corona discharge. Infrared spectrum and BET analysis reveal that NO 2  is removed by adsorption and catalytic oxidation on the surface of catalyst, where it turns to nitrate.
