In this paper, four kinds of discharge at high pressure (≥10 5 Pa) were discussed. The removal of SO 2  from simulated flue gases was experimentally investigated using a DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) micro-gap discharge. Hydroxyl (OH·) radicals of high concentration was produced using the ionization of O 2  and H 2 O to further the conversion of SO 2  into H 2 SO 4  in the absence of any catalyst or absorbent. With the test and analysis, a number of H 2 SO 4  droplets were captured using a semi-dry electrostatic precipitator (ESP). Therefore, a new gas-phase oxidation method for the removal of SO 2  without NH 3  additive is found.
