ドデシルアンモニウムクロリド(DAC),ドデシルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド(DTAC),ドデシルベンジルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド(DBAC)の各水溶液の電気伝導度を15000atmの加圧下において25℃で測定した。DTACとDBACのミセル形成濃度(cmc)は約1000atmまでは加圧とともに増大するが,それ以上の圧力下ではふたたび減少していく。DAGでは約2000atmまではcmcが増大していくが,それ以上では溶液の比伝導度が濃度によりある一定圧力以上で急激に減少するという異常現象が起るためcmcを求めることができない。界面活性剤の単イオンとミセル形成イオンの間に平衡が成立するとして,単イオンからミセルを形成する際の体積変化ΔVを求めると1atm,25℃において上記3種類の試料についていずれも約+3cc/molであった。約1000atm以上でcmcが圧力の増加とともに減少していくことはΔVが負の値になることを意味しており,ミセル内部の疎水基の部分的な固化が起っているものと考えられる。
