We present compact analytic expressions for the two-body momentum distribution η2(p1, p2) in Z=N closed-shell nuclei derived within the context of the independent particle shell model. Results are derived for the nucleus 16O. The effect of dynamical short-range correlations is estimated using Jastrow-type correlation functions in the case of the nucleus 4He.
