Provides general information of interest to conference attendees. Divided over 3 days, the virtual conference combined tradition and innovation. Research papers, international keynote speakers, a doctoral workshop were delivered in addition to city ‘Dialogues’ and a facilitated poster session. We were especially impressed with the reception to the Dialogue and poster sessions…both of which were facilitated by experts to encourage interaction with the virtual attendees. Although we hope that next events are in person, we already plan to include these highly effective programme elements. Building on the success of IEEE E-TEMS 2020, the IEEE conference series within the Technology and Engineering Management Society was launched. Taking place between 2021-2025, the European Partnership on Project & Innovation Management (EuroPIM) will bring research, practitioner and industry perspectives to emphasize the social accountability that must be associated with project management, digital transformation and smart cities. Each event will try to deliver a hybrid conference model (with both virtual and in-person events) and include international experts, educational workshops, doctoral symposia, poster sessions and dialogues amongst our EuroPIM partners. IEEE E-TEMS 2021 is the first of the series. Much thoughtfulness and expertise contributed to both the innovative programme, content, and first-rate planning and, with this editorial, all will be discussed.
