The title compound, C16H22N4S2, was obtained by the reaction of sulfur with the corresponding quaternary salt in the presence of K2CO3. It crystallizes with two half-molecules in the asymmetric unit; the complete molecules are generated by inversion symmetry with the central CH2—CH2 bonds of the hexane bridges being located on inversion centres. In each molecule, the C6-alkyl chain adopts a typical antiperiplanar conformation and the two heterocyclic rings are oriented antiparallel to each other.
