Sprays were applied dilute by handgun operating at 200 psi to SJS-infested 30-yr-old apple trees. Each treatment consisted of 3 single-tree replicates. SN 85292 was applied in 2 rates. Lorsban 50 WP was the standard. A single spray of each treatment was applied at the beginning of 2nd-generation crawler emergence. Newly settled scales were counted on the basal portion (20 cm) of water sprouts (15/tree; 45 treatment) growing from major scaffold limbs. One sample was taken on 14 Aug before treatment and one in mid-Oct after harvest. Settled scales were also counted on fruit (25/tree; 75/treatment) at harvest time.
