Neonate larvae of the tomato pinworm were exposed to fenoxycarb (ABG 6231) by 2 methods in the laboratory. In the first, excised leaflets of tomato seedlings grown in a greenhouse were dipped in either water or a preparation of fenoxycarb. When the leaflets were dry, they were placed individually in plastic cups on a filter paper disc moistened with water and each was infested with 5 larvae. In the second method, excised leaflets were placed into cups and infested as above. After 24 hrs, the leaflets were dipped in either water or a preparation of fenoxycarb. After the leaflets were dry, they were returned to the cups. After about 2 wk, an additional untreated tomato leaflet was placed into each cup and pupation observed on an irregular schedule for about another 2 wk. There were 20 cups (replicates)/treatment within each method.
