We describe and study the role of the contractile Myosin cytoskeleton in the different epithelial cell types that make up the fly retina. We find that medial contractile Myosin meshworks control the apical geometry and area of retinal cells. Our work also suggests that force transmission within a group of cells depends on cell stiffness.
