We investigate the enhanced electric dipole-dipole interaction by surfaceplasmon polaritons (SPPs) supported by the planar metal film waveguide. Bytaking two nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center electric-dipoles in diamond as anexample, both the coupling strength and collective relaxation of two dipolesare studied with numerical Green Function method. Compared to the two-dipolecoupling on planar surface, metal film provides stronger and tunable couplingcoefficients. Enhancement of the interaction between coupled NV center dipolescould have applications in both quantum information and energy transferinvestigation. Our investigation provides a systematical result forexperimental applications based on dipole-dipole interaction mediated with SPPson planar metal film.
