The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress coping style among foodservice employees in the Brazilian context. The sample consisted of 284 foodservice employees in the Brazilian industry. The results showed that the Brazilian context is different from previous contexts studied with twice as many people below 30 years old, unskilled labor, and a much higher turnover rate. Data also suggests that there are several different relationships between emotional intelligence and stress coping style, particularly when considering the moderating role of job characteristics in this relationship.
