A novel supported heterogeneous magnetic catalyst CoFe 2 O 4 /N-doped sludge based activated carbon (CoFe 2 O 4 /N-SAC) was prepared by polymer network gel method for the first time. The physicochemical properties of the materials were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, TEM, VSM and XPS techniques. The prepared catalyst is applied to the heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate for degradation of coking wastewater, and the effect of calcination temperature on the catalytic activity was investigated. The result reveals that the catalyst shows the highest catalytic activities under the calcination temperature is 800 °C with the TOC removal rate of coking wastewater is 84.31%.
