ResumenIntroducciónEn la cirugía de la metatarsalgia se plantea intervenir metatarsianos asintomáticos con el objetivo de reproducir la parábola ideal de Maestro et al. El objetivo de este estudio es valorar la influencia del número de radios intervenidos en los resultados postoperatorios.Material y métodosSe revisaron todos los pacientes intervenidos de metatarsalgia propulsiva entre 2011 y 2013 mediante osteotomías distales tipo Weil, realizando una planificación quirúrgica individualizada para restaurar la fórmula metatarsal ideal descrita por Maestro. Se analizaron función y dolor mediante el cuestionario AOFAS, la EVA y una escala de satisfacción. Se realizó un análisis estadístico de comparaciones múltiples mediante el test de ANOVA entre las medidas anteriores y el número de radios intervenidos, estableciéndose 3 grupos: 1) Weil 2-3; 2) Weil 2-3-4; 3) Weil 2-3-4-5 (SPSS versión 18.0).ResultadosSe revisaron 91 pacientes con una media de edad de 65 años. No se hallaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los 3 grupos para cada una de las variables: AOFAS total (p=0,407), AOFAS diferencial (p=0,243), EVA (p=0,106) y escala de satisfacción (p=0,247).ConclusiónEl número de radios intervenidos no influye en los resultados del tratamiento quirúrgico de las metatarsalgias mediante osteotomías de Weil, obteniéndose los mismos resultados en cuanto a función, dolor y satisfacción en todos los grupos de pacientes.AbstractIntroductionIn metatarsalgia surgery there is the thought of operating asymptomatic metatarsal bones in order to reproduce the ideal foot morphotype described by Maestro et al. The aim of this study is to show the influence of the number of metatarsals operated on postoperative outcomes.Material and methodsAll patients who underwent surgery for propulsive metatarsalgia between 2011 and 2013 were got Weil osteotomies; an individualized surgical planning to restore the ideal foot morphotype described by Maestro was done. Function and pain were analyzed by the AOFAS questionnaire; EVA; and a satisfaction scale. A statistical analysis of multiple comparisons was performed using ANOVA between the above measures and the number of operated metatarsals, establishing three groups: 1: Weil 2-3; 2: Weil 2-3-4; 3: Weil 2-3-4-5. (SPSS version 18.0)ResultsWe reviewed 91 patients with a mean age of 65 years. Total AOFAS (P=.407), differential AOFAS (P=.243), EVA (P=.106) and satisfaction scale (P=.247): No statistically significant differences among the three groups for each of the variables were found.ConclusionThe number of operated metatarsals did not influence the results of surgical treatment of metatarsalgia by Weil osteotomy, obtaining the same results in terms of function, pain and satisfaction in all groups of patients
