HighlightsBulk-heterostructure electrolytes based on Ce 0.8 Sm 0.2 O 2-δ  and SrTiO 3  are developed for solid oxide fuel cells    The interface characteristics are investigated to understand the fast ionic transport obtained in the heterostructure.
