Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is a great pleasure and honour for the Société d’Exploration de la Vision et Electrophysiologie (SEVE) to host the 56th Annual Symposium of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV 2018) in Reims, France. More than 100 abstracts have been submitted (possibly a record) and the Scientific Committee, chaired by Ruth Hamilton and helped by Colin Barber, has assembled a sparkling programme with ten oral sessions taking place in the mornings and latter part of the afternoons. The two poster sessions are held on Wednesday and Friday just after lunch, enabling authors to keep their posters on display for two full days: Wednesday and Thursday for Poster session 1, and Friday and Saturday for Poster session 2, offering ample opportunity for attendees to catch up with their content. ISCEV 2018 will also offer a full programme of animal and human hands-on courses at the University of Reims. In the Convention Centre, beautiful science will be presented in 12 different sessions, real-life electrophysiology in the Clinical Cases session, collaborative discussions in the Standards session and a 2018 update on ISCEV business in the annual Membership Meeting. The prestigious William Dawson and Emiko Adachi Lectures will be two major events during the meeting. The Convention Centre is beautifully situated next to a charming park perfectly suited for the Olympics. The location in the heart of the city will allow all attendees to reach the Convention Centre from the nearby hotels with only a few minutes’ walk. The social programme will highlight French cuisine, Champagne and the beauty of this city with its Roman ancestry. On Thursday, the free evening will provide an opportunity to listen to musicians performing in the streets all over the city on the occasion of ‘‘La Fête de la Musique’’, a National Music Day which takes place every year on the 21st of June to celebrate midsummer. The Gala Dinner will be held in the Archbishop’s Residency just beside the famous Cathedral—in the very same place where the Kings of France celebrated their Coronations.
