.   We define a bijection from Littlewood-Richardson tableaux to rigged configurations and show that it preserves the appropriate statistics. This proves in particular a quasi-particle expression for the generalized Kostka polynomials <img src="/fulltext-image.asp?format=htmlnonpaginated&src=HD16260JPJAYNJ25_html/29_2002_Article_252_TeX2GIFEqu1.gif" alt="$ K_{\lambda R}(q) $" align="middle" border="0"> labeled by a partition <img src="/fulltext-image.asp?format=htmlnonpaginated&src=HD16260JPJAYNJ25_html/29_2002_Article_252_TeX2GIFEqu2.gif" alt="$ \lambda $" align="middle" border="0"> and a sequence of rectangles R.
